Wilson's popularity travelled to the United States in 2014, when she appeared on Showtimes The Affair. She performed the role of Alison Lockhart, a young woman who is struggling with her relationship with her past, and is drawn to Noah Solloway. Wilson received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series in Drama 2015 alongside Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson said in British Vogue: "I love the fact that I am able to play characters with two different perspectives." Noah imagines Alison's confident and reckless sexy side. However, in reality, Alison views herself as being dowdy. The actress added "I believe that America is such a moralistic country and that they are so judgemental. What happens on the show is shocking." Wilson left the show in 2018 after a lot of fans' shock, but she was vague about the specifics. On a CBS This Morning Interview in August of 2018, Wilson stated, "I did want to go but I can't talk about the reasons for it." The Little Stranger More recently Wilson has turned to more films. In 2016, she starred in the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing who lives in the house, and also played the mysterious PT Stella character in the 2017 sci-fi rom-com How to Talk to Girls At Parties. In addition to her horror credits, Wilson will also star in the British movie adaptation of The Little Stranger. The supernatural thriller was adapted from a Sarah Waters' novel. Wilson will also be executive producing the movie.
